Joy!!

so it has been a while since i have had this much joy. sure i may seem ultra happy at times, partly bc i am, (my life is great) but when it comes to true joy, something has been missing. i think i have finally found out just what that has been. every day since my wife and i have begun this amazing journey with Origin Church, there has just been this spark of joy that has ignited into a flame inside of me. for the first time in quite a while i have found a Church that i know without a doubt God wants me to be a part of. i believe thats what was missing. i feel so privileged to be joining together with such a great group of people as we begin this wonderful trip together. God is doing some rad (i wanted to pull this word out of the archives) things already. if you dont believe me then check it out at Origin Church. join our team or just come and critique it. whatever your reason for coming, i’ll bet you will be able to recognize something special and maybe even find a special JOY, just as i have.

Family Night

so tonight is the night for my wife and me to spend some quality time together. i love it. i know i know, why am i bloggin on family night you ask. well i’ve miss you all so much that i just couldn’t stay separated from you much longer, plus my wife gave me the go ahead to write a quickie. so hear it is….

as i sit here and continually glance over at my wife sarah watch yet another episode of THE OFFICE……..which apparently, as ive just been told, is a new episode… ill be back in 30.

ok, sorry im back. haha had to watch a little 30 ROCK too. :)

anyway, on a serious note, back to what i was beginning to say. it was along the lines of being very appreciative for my beautiful wife and my son that will be here in may. i have been blessed very much and maybe you have too. so basically, tonight, on my family night, i just wanted to write a reminder for all of us out there with a significant other. it is to make sure that no matter how busy we get during our work weeks, that we prioritize, and spend quality time with the ones we are “doing life with”. it is so easy sometimes to get bogged down with all that we have going on in this crazy life and forget to make time for the ones we love. dont get sucked in. i say this for myself just as much as i say it for all of you out there. so lets keep our priorities right and remember that FAMILY is right up there near the top of the list.

so anyway, i am about to retire to our room where all the magic happens and love on my wife a little, but before i do, i am going to thank God one more time today for my incredible blessing of a family.

heck of a night!!

just last night Shane Craven (lead pastor of our Origin Church) and i traipsed on over to the campus of UTC, in chattanooga, for the ‘09 edition of the Winter Jam concert tour, and i have to say wow, what a night. for those of you who aren’t familiar with Winter Jam, it is a music tour with some of Christian music’s top artists on the bill. now i have to tell ya, i predominantly listen to country music as well as a healthy dose of classic rock but last night it was refreshing to hear some rockin Christian tunes and be around others of like faith, singin’ and worshipin’ our God. however, “it don’t stop there”. there are a few other reason why this particular evening ROCKED!

i believe there were around 80 or so folks that, for the first time, found out what it actually means to have a relationship…………… a relationship with God. now i know a “relationship with God” may sound weird to some of you out there reading this blog, but it is the foundation of all that i and my church body happen to believe in. basically, 80 folks chucked religion and pride out the window and replaced it with a faith in something bigger than themselves…God. (relationship). tony nolan was the instrument that God played loud and clear last night resulting in life change for so many people. incredible!!!

now there is another reason why last night was such a success. the launch of Origin Church is now becoming closer and closer and after last night it’s becoming bigger and bigger. God allowed shane and i to come in contact with some of our past networking connections and broadcast from stage (to over 5,000 people) that Origin Church will soon be coming to a Ringgold near you. God is already giving us huge opportunities to billboard his future work through us at Origin. we were able to talk with many about this church endeavor and what it will look like. amazing!!!

so let me take this opportunity to invite those of YOU in the Ringgold, Ga/ Chattanooga, Tn area, or anyone for that matter, to check out Origin and explore your “not so average church”. it may not be your cup of tea but i promise you will be intrigued. (more to come on Origin Church in future blogs)

so i guess the only thing left to say is all in all, it was one heck of a night.

the beginning

Well, i figured i would allow this first blog to tell you a little about myself. clearly my name is Chip. i’m 24 yrs. old and counting. i have a smokin’ hot wife that soon, will give birth to the first addition to our family… a baby boy. so stoked. it won’t do you any good to ask what the name of our boy will be bc we still have no clue. his name is pretty much the only thing we argue about. haha. well there is a little about me and my family. now here is a peek at WHO I AM.

i am a Christian, but don’t get the wrong idea. i am involved in a Church, but again, don’t get the wrong idea. i am different. Do i believe in God? Yes, but i won’t push my beliefs on you. Do i believe Jesus was not only a good man but also the son of God who died for me? Yes, but i won’t look down on you if you happen to not feel the same way.

The Church body i belong to feels the same. Its called Origin Church, and much like me, this church will love and accept you no matter what your past, beliefs, convictions, or lack there of. Maybe this Church is the one to help get that “bad-Church-taste” out of your mouth from previous encounters. i know it was for me. So try us on for size. Who knows? We may fit you just right.
now about this blog: it is for anyone to read, critique, and even comment on.
Oh, and just a small disclaimer:
